The Red Tape Recorder
from the Department of Social Scrutiny

The Department of Social Scrutiny's Red Tape Recorder was set up in September 2006 to collect stories of pointless bureaucracy - especially ones that victimize ordinary members of the public just trying to get on with their lives.
This is not a forum for sending in stories of how your multinational corporation can't get planning permission for a puppy and kitten incinerator because of all those petty bureaucrats with their nanny-state concerns for the fluffy-wuffies. There seems to be a tendency amongst all those supposedly cut and thrust captains of industry to bleat like a slapped sheep whenever safeguards or progressive reforms are made. Having said that, there are plenty of over-zealous middle managers in positions of power who are just not satisfied with the word or letter, it's the punctuation mark of the law that counts.
